PHOTOSTOP is a place dedicated to showing, teaching and sharing photography.

I decided to open a gallery and teaching space in response to the closure of so many places in the Upper Valley that used to be available to photographers. Little by little, virtually every camera store has now closed, thereby doing away with places where photographers and photo enthusiasts could gather to share news, resources, and ideas. I plan to make PHOTOSTOP a welcoming place for visitors and students to experience high quality photographic exhibitions, classes and workshops in photography and digital imaging, and my working studio. Here’s an article that the Valley News published on October 22nd, 2009 about PHOTOSTOP: http://www.vnews.com/10222009/6097586.htm.

PHOTOSTOP is located in the TipTop Building in White River Jct., VT on the first floor, Suite 150, close to Two Rivers Printmaking Studio, DPF Design, and the Tip Top Cafe. In addition to having my studio there, I’ll be offering digital tutoring in a variety of subjects, professional level classes and workshops taught by guest faculty and myself, exhibits of photography and works of art on paper, special events and much more!

I’m very pleased that Neal Rantoul’s photographs, “Wheat, an American Series”, were PHOTOSTOP’S  inaugural exhibition. For our grand opening reception on Oct. 23, nearly 200 people came to visit the gallery and hear Neal give a gallery talk on his work. It was a wonderful night of sharing stories about photography, talking about changes in the medium, and thinking about how artists can hinge photographs together to extend their meaning. Our second exhibit, “Winter’s Depths” featured two complementary views of the winter season with work by James M. Patterson and Sara Wight. Our third exhibit of Cynthia Rubin’s work extended the photographic medium into the realm of video and animation with a visitor-activated installation and images that spanned several decades of the artist’s career. Our first PhotoSlam was an incredible success with over 400 entries! Our current show is a very inspirational one that I hope you’ll check out. We’re currently putting out a call for entries to our first regional juried show of railroad photography. There’s a short video on our Homepage that will give viewers a good idea about our mission and goals so check it out!

PHOTOSTOP’S phone number is 802.698.0320. Please bookmark this website and/or click on the subscribe button on the Homepage to get future updates about PHOTOSTOP’S progress.

Special heartfelt thanks go to Richard Ruiz for creating this website/blog and to my husband Rich, for all the enthusiastic carpentry and general trouble-shooting at our new space. I couldn’t have done it without them.

Hope to see you at PHOTOSTOP in the very near future!
